No still lifes of Henri Goovaerts were known until this still life with roses turned up at an auction in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany, in September 2020. This painting may date from the years 1896-1901, when Goovaerts worked for some time for the Schmitz-Scholl family from Mülheim an der Ruhr, the founders of the German holding company Tengelmann. |
