| Remarks | Josephina Joanna Hubertina Scheffers (1843 - 1923) was 21 years old when she married Petrus Franciscus Goovaerts who was ten years older. Of the ten children they had together Henri Goovaerts was the eldest. Josephina was not the prototype of the caring housewife. She loved to wear beautiful clothes and go out and she was regularly to be found on the front row in theater. Although father Goovaerts had a flourishing decoration company, father and mother Goovaerts very often had to borrow money from Henri to be able to continue this expensive lifestyle. |
